Antoine Semenyo reveals why he stayed at Bournemouth despite summer transfer interest

In-form Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has revealed why he decided to remain at Bournemouth despite receiving transfer interest during the summer window.

The 25-year-old, who has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, says his belief in the team’s project convinced him to stay.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Semenyo reflected on the transfer speculation that surrounded him after several key players left Bournemouth before the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

"When they all left in the summer, there was a lot of interest and back and forth with the club," he said. "But I knew in my head that the manager’s got something up his sleeve this year."

Semenyo admitted that he initially had doubts after watching several teammates depart, but faith in manager Andoni Iraola’s vision and the club’s strong finish to last season convinced him to commit his future to the Cherries.

"How we finished off the season last year was so good, and I knew we could continue, especially with the players we’ve brought in as well," he explained. "I wasn’t too sure at the start, but we’ve kicked on like a house on fire. I’m glad I committed to staying here because I’m enjoying every moment."

That decision has paid off handsomely for the Ghana international, who has notched six goals and three assists in just nine league games this term. His performances have made him one of the most talked-about forwards in England and earned him a Premier League Goal of the Month nomination in October.

Semenyo’s form has been a key factor in Bournemouth’s impressive run, with the Cherries sitting among the early contenders for European qualification, as they are currently in second position.
