Asante Kotoko have been handed a major injury boost ahead of their Ghana Premier League week eight clash with Karela United, following the return of key players Baba Yahaya and Saaka Dauda to full training.
The club’s medical team confirmed the duo’s return after both players recovered from injuries. Baba had been nursing a groin problem picked up during preseason, while Saaka was sidelined with an ankle issue. Baba, who is yet to feature this season, could make his first appearance as the Porcupine Warriors aim to bounce back from their CAF Confederation Cup exit.
In further positive news, forward Kwame Opoku, who was stretchered off during the opening-day win over Berekum Chelsea, has resumed light training with the youth side. However, striker Isaac Mintah remains on the treatment table after undergoing successful surgery three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, young right-back Shayibu Abubakar continues his recovery from an ACL injury sustained earlier this month and is expected to be out for an extended period.
