English-born Ghanaian defender Josh Acheampong says it was surreal scoring his first senior goal for boyhood club Chelsea.
The Chelsea Academy graduate netted his first professional goal in the 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest after powerfully heading home a Pedro Neto cross.
"It was a really good feeling to score. It’s quite surreal. I don’t remember it too much, but just a really good feeling. I don’t really remember much of the celebrations either, to be honest. I need to watch it back!" he said after the game.
"I don’t score many goals, so to score my first Chelsea goal is really good," added the England youth international.
Despite cruising to a 3-0 win, Acheampong admitted it was a tough game against the struggling Reds.
"The first half was quite tough and they created quite a lot of chances, but so did we," he continued. "I’m happy we managed to get that first goal, and hopefully we can build from there."
The win comes after Chelsea defeated champions Liverpool just before October's international break, making it back-to-back victories. Acheampong hopes the momentum continues and what is becoming a breakout campaign for the teenager.
"Of course, we’re really pleased with the win. We spoke about building on this, and hopefully we can do the same in the games to come," he said.
The London-born remains eligible to play for Ghana's Black Stars and has since been under the radar of the country's football federation.
