Belgian-Ghanaian midfielder Dirk Asare made his mark with an assist in K. Lierse SK’s 2â1 home defeat to FC Liège in the Belgian Challenger Pro League.
Playing the full 90 minutes at the AsterX Group-f Arena, Asare’s creativity stood out despite his side’s loss. His pinpoint pass in the 63rd minute set up Pietro Perdichizzi, who struck a brilliant left-footed shot from outside the box into the top corner, Lierse’s only goal of the game.
Liège had taken control early, with Jonathan D’Ostilio converting a 15th-minute penalty before Alexis De Sart doubled the lead before halftime. Despite Lierse’s dominance in possession (65%) and 27 total shots, they struggled to break down a disciplined Liège defense.
Fans applauded Asare’s composure and work rate, as he constantly pushed play forward and created chances. His assist was a bright spot in an otherwise frustrating afternoon for Lierse, who will now look to bounce back in their next league clash against RFC Seraing on October 24.
