Former Ghana U23 shot-stopper Richmond Ayi has completed a move to Ethiopian Premier League outfit Shire Endaselassie, GHANAsoccernet.com can confirm.
The experienced goalkeeper has penned a short-term contract with the club, popularly known as Sehul Shire, with an option for an extension after the 2025-26 season.
The transfer marks a new chapter in Ayi’s career as he ventures into East African football for the first time.
Ayi, 28, began his professional career with Techiman City FC before earning a move to the West African Football Academy (WAFA SC), where his impressive performances caught the attention of Ghana Premier League giants Hearts of Oak.
He joined the Phobians in December 2018 and quickly established himself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the domestic league.
During his time with Hearts, Ayi was part of the squad that won the Ghana Premier League title and FA Cup double in 2021, helping the club end over a decade-long league drought.
In August 2024, he signed for Dreams FC, where he featured prominently in their domestic campaign and CAF Confederation Cup matches.
His move to Shire Endaselassie presents an opportunity to revive his career and bring valuable experience to the Ethiopian top-flight club as they aim for a strong season.
