
Ghana international Alexander Djiku was given the marching orders as Spartak Moscow shared the spoils with FC Rostov in the Russian Premier League.
The Black Stars rock-solid defender was handed a starting role on his return from Ghana duty, as his outfit played out a 1-1 draw against their opponent on home turf.
The Ghana international lasted only 26 minutes for Spartak Moscow in the matchday 12 fixture, held at the Lukoil Arena on Saturday afternoon. Djiku, who joined the Russian outfit in the summer received two yellow cards within three minutes to get the marching orders in the high-stake clash.
The former Strasbourg star was initially cautioned in the 23rd minute mark. However, he had to be sent off in the 26th-minute following a second caution in the match.
The first half of the much-anticipated clash ended in a pulsating goalless draw, with both teams struggling to find the back of the net.
With both teams scoring one goal each in the second half, the crucial match had to end in a 1-1 draw. FC Rostov opened the scoring in the 56th-minute mark through Timur Suleymanov before the home team pulled parity in the game.
The visitors were cruising to victory, until Esequiel Barco leveled the score for the home team to secure an all-important draw.
The 31-year-old Ghanaian international joined Spartak Moscow during the summer transfer window from Fenerbahce, signing a contract that will keep him at the Russian club until June 2027.
Since joining the club, Djiku has made five appearances in the Russian Premier League this season.
