Ghana coach Otto Addo has reiterated that his tactical approach with the Black Stars is flexible, a philosophy that helped the team secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Addo explained that his system adapts depending on the opponent and the match situation. "It’s flexible. It comes with the opponent. There are some situations where we have to be dominant. There are some opponents which are very strong, and we have to play more cautiously. It’s also about the situation in the game, where we can make adjustments even during play," he said.
The coach believes this adaptability gives Ghana an edge, making it harder for opponents to anticipate their approach. "I think it makes it more difficult for the opponent, but also for us to implement because the players have to be very fast, very adaptive. I have to say they really, really did well in the last games, and that’s also why we have had success," Addo added.
The 50-year-old emphasised intelligence and versatility among his players, noting that his philosophy relies on quick decision-making and the ability to adjust to changing scenarios on the pitch.
Addo’s side will return to action in November with friendlies against Japan and South Korea as they continue preparations for next year’s tournament.
