Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has credited President John Mahama’s personal involvement in football affairs for the recent positive strides in the sport, including the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, Okraku said the President’s active engagement and support were having a visible impact on the country’s football ecosystem.
“I believe that the recent developments â his personal commitment and his visit to the team â are clearly having an impact on the football ecosystem,” he said.
Okraku reaffirmed his commitment to aligning with the President’s wider national reset agenda, which he said extends to rejuvenating sports and restoring pride in Ghanaian football.
“I think that we’ll work together to ensure we all follow the agenda of the President of our country, who has set out to reset all facets of our nation, including football,” he added.
He also praised improvements in domestic football, pointing to the competitive nature of the Ghana Premier League and the national team’s resurgence.
“The GPL, I have said, is the best so far. The Black Stars are back in the Mundial where we belong, and much more can be said,” he concluded.
