The Ghana Supporters Union has urged the public to ignore false messages circulating on social media claiming that the group has opened visa applications and appointments for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States.
In a statement signed by its president, Hajj Moro Issaka Polo, the Union said certain individuals are fraudulently using its name to extort money from unsuspecting football fans under the pretense of facilitating U.S. visa fees and appointments for the upcoming tournament.
“The Ghana Supporters Union has not opened any visa application or collection process for the 2026 World Cup,” the statement clarified. “Any information suggesting otherwise is false and should be disregarded.”
The Union emphasised that those behind the misleading claims are not associated with the organisation, and their actions do not reflect its official position. It further cautioned that the Union will not be liable for any losses incurred by individuals who fall victim to such scams.
The statement assured fans that the Ghana Supporters Union will issue credible and verified updates at the appropriate time regarding any official travel or visa arrangements for the World Cup.
