Chelsea youngster Tyrique George says he is happy to play in any position that helps the team, as he continues to impress under manager Enzo Maresca.
Born to a Ghanaian mother and Nigerian father, the England youth international has been deployed in several attacking roles this season, including as a striker, despite being naturally suited to the wing.
His adaptability and flair have made him one of Chelsea’s brightest academy graduates currently pushing for more senior minutes.
Speaking after featuring for England’s U21s during the international break, George said he is open-minded about his role at Stamford Bridge.
“I don’t mind playing as a nine. I just want to get on the pitch, so if it’s as a striker or full-back, I’m happy to be on the pitch,” he said.
Known for his creativity and confidence on the ball, George explained his approach to maintaining form and earning Maresca’s trust.
“I’m quite a creative player. I like to be in the pockets and shoot. It’s been a decent start to the season, I’m taking it day by day. I’m not too focused on the future.
"I think to play more, it’s just being aggressive and hungry to show the manager that I want to play in training. That’s what I’m going to try to do.”
