Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee, Dr. Randy Abbey, has lauded his team for their unwavering commitment and teamwork following Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The achievement comes after a difficult period for Ghanaian football, which saw the Black Stars fail to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) dissolved the previous Management Committee led by Mark Addo and constituted a new one headed by Dr. Abbey.
The reconstituted committee included former national team captain Stephen Appiah as Vice Chairman, with Samuel Aboabire, Moses Armah Parker, and Dr. Richard Nsenkyire serving as members.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Dr. Abbey praised his colleagues for their collective effort and dedication throughout the qualification campaign.
"I am impressed with the working relationship with my members. Everybody wants to bring something on board," he said.
"It was stressful, but we stayed together as a team and everybody put everything on board.
"We all have our respective works, but we all sacrificed to ensure the Black Stars qualify for the 2026 World Cup," Dr Abbey added.
Ghana’s qualification marks the nation’s fifth appearance at the global showpiece.
The Black Stars will discover their group-stage opponents when the official draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup takes place on December 5.
