Sports Minister Kofi Adams has declared that all eligible Ghanaian players, including England-based talents Eddie Nketiah and Callum Hudson-Odoi, have an equal opportunity to represent the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking after Ghana secured World Cup qualification, Adams emphasised that coach Otto Addo has complete freedom to select any player regardless of their previous involvement in the qualifying campaign.
"Every Ghanaian who knows how to play has the opportunity to go to the World Cup if the coach decides that he wants to," Adams stated in an interview with Asempa FM. "It doesn't matter if the player was part of the team during the qualifiers or not. It doesn't matter if the player has played before or not."
The minister clarified that while he's ready to assist in recruiting players like Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi, who are eligible for nationality switches, the final selection authority rests entirely with the technical team.
Adams revealed his previous behind-the-scenes role in player recruitment, noting, "Even some of the players playing now, I did some background work to get them to the national team... whoever they want to bring in, I will be there to assist."
The comments follow Ghana's 1-0 victory over Comoros that sealed their World Cup qualification, with the team now preparing for the tournament draw in December and potential new additions to strengthen their squad.
