
The stage is set for the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup following Thursday’s preliminary round draw held at the Football Association Headquarters in Accra.
A total of ninety-two (92) clubs from the Division One and Division Two Leagues have discovered their opponents as the nation’s most prestigious knockout competition officially kicks off later this month.
Last season’s finalists, Golden Kick SC, face a tricky start with an away fixture against Attram de Visser Academy, one of the standout matchups of the round. The tie promises a fascinating contest between two sides known for their technical flair and attacking style.
In Group A, Tamale City make the trip to face Bolga All Stars, while Wa Power SC welcome Northern City FC in a much-anticipated regional derby. Elsewhere, Victory Club Warriors take on Steadfast FC, a fixture expected to draw passionate local support.
Group B also features a number of intriguing clashes. Berekum Arsenal will host Bectero Sasana, Thoughts FC meet Debibi United, and PAC Academy travel to KAC Soccer Academy in what promises to be a fiercely contested tie.
In the Western Zone, fans can look forward to exciting action as Sekondi XI Wise host Skyy FC, while Sekondi Rospak welcome Elmina Sharks to Tarkwa â a fixture many are billing as one of the toughest of the round.
The southern sector will see Inter Allies play host to Right to Dream Academy, while Okwahu United travel to Shalom FC and WAFA (West Africa Football Academy) begin their campaign at home against Nadom FC.
The preliminary draw was conducted based on zonal and geographical proximity, a measure aimed at ensuring balanced, competitive fixtures while reducing travel demands for participating clubs.
The preliminary round matches are scheduled for the weekend of October 24â27, 2025, with winners advancing to the Round of 64, where they will be joined by all 18 Premier League clubs. That stage is expected to heighten the drama as lower-tier teams get the chance to test their strength against Ghana’s elite sides.
