Asante Kotoko have confirmed that striker Albert Amoah’s injury is less severe than initially feared following the club’s 2-0 victory over Bibiani GoldStars on Wednesday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Ghanaian forward, who was stretchered off around the 70th minute after a heavy tackle, was suspected to have sustained an ankle sprain.
However, medical assessments have revealed that the injury is minor. The club stated that Amoah will sit out two training sessions but is expected to be available soon.
Amoah had earlier scored Kotoko’s second goal with a superb strike, taking his tally to five goals in all competitions this season before being forced off the pitch.
Meanwhile, Kotoko also confirmed that Walid Fuseini Neymar and Patrick Asiedu, who limped off during the same fixture, are responding positively to treatment. “Both players are making steady progress,” the club said in a statement.
Wednesday’s win was Kotoko’s second league victory of the season and extended their unbeaten start to three matches.
Peter Amidu Acquah opened the scoring in the first half before Amoah doubled the lead shortly after the break.
Head coach Karim Zito will be encouraged by his team’s performance ahead of Saturday’s away clash against Nations FC, as the Porcupine Warriors aim to continue their strong start to the campaign.
