Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has expressed his admiration for the Black Stars following their 5-0 thumping of Central African Republic in the penultimate 2026 World Cup qualifier.
The West African football heavyweights made light work of their opponent on Wednesday afternoon in Meknes, Morocco following an outstanding display.
Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, and Kamaldeen Sulemana saw the Black Stars extend their lead in Group I to 22 points.
The emphatic win at Meknes in Morocco leaves Ghana just one point away from qualifying for the 2026 World Cup to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.
Speaking after the game, the former Black Stars skipper expressed gratitude to the players and Ghanaians at large after recording a massive win against Central African Republic.
“Thanks to the Black Stars and Ghanaians for their support. We came here to witness a victory match, but not this margin of goals. The boys have done so well and kudos to them” he told 3Sports in an interview.
Ghana play Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to close out its 2026 World Cup qualification campaign.
