The Catch Them Young Referees programme took another major step forward as young female referees officiated matches in the ongoing Elite U15 Girls Inter-Regional Tournament at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
This initiative forms part of a Capacity Building Course jointly organised by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and FIFA under the FIFA League Development Programme, designed to offer practical learning experiences for emerging referees.
Former FIFA referee and mentor, Madam Emmanuella Aglago, supervised the young officials during the matches, offering guidance and stressing the importance of combining mentorship with hands-on experience. Madam Millicent Kanor, the programme’s Fitness Instructor, praised the girls’ discipline and improvement, noting that their exposure at this level will form a solid foundation for future national and international officiating roles.
Adding her perspective, Madam Louisa Amanor underlined how the practical sessions strengthen the referees’ communication, decision-making, and match management skills.
