Ernest Poku found the net to set Bayer Leverkusen on course for a comfortable 2-0 victory over Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.
The Dutch-Ghanaian winger opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, calmly slotting home from the center of the box after a quick counterattack led by Lucas Vazquez. His sharp movement and composure delighted the home fans, who applauded him as he left the pitch in the 89th minute.
Christian Kofane doubled the lead early in the second half, securing all three points and extending coach Kasper Hjulmand’s unbeaten start to the season. Leverkusen dominated from start to finish, enjoying 74 percent possession and creating numerous chances while limiting Union Berlin to brief spells of resistance.
Poku’s energy and flair on the wing added spark to Leverkusen’s attack, making him one of the standout performers of the afternoon.
The 21-year-old has now scored two goals in five league appearances this season. Leverkusen will next face Mainz 05 on October 5th as they look to continue their strong run.
