Former Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has called for support for Black Stars coach Otto Addo.
The 49-year-old has recently come under immense pressure following the senior national team's 1-1 draw against Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in September in N'Djamena.
However, Addo turned around the results with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The inconsistent performance of the team led to the Sports Minister, Kofi Adams and other government officials expressing their reservations about Otto Addo.
However, ahead of the final round of games in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Central African Republic and Comoros, Agyemang Badu beleives Addo has not performed badly, adding that there is more room for improvement.
“I’m not the one who appointed him, but every work each person is doing, they want to succeed. The coach, too, wants to succeed in his work with the Black Stars,” the U-20 World Cup winner told Asempa FM.
“I don’t think the stats show that he has done badly. There is more room for improvement. Let’s wait and play the two matches. There’s more time to deliberate on his future after," he added.
Meanwhile, Otto Addo has announced a 24-man squad for the games against Central African Republic and Comoros.
Ghana will play the penultimate World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic at Stade d'Honneur de Meknes on Wednesday, October 8, before hosting Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium four days later.
The Black Stars are chasing a fifth World Cup appearance as they currently sit at the top of Group I with 19 points - four needed to guarantee spot at the global showpiece.
