Tottenham Hotspur displayed resilience and determination to secure a 2-2 draw at Champions League opponents Bodo/Glimt, according to defender Kevin Danso.
Despite falling two goals behind, Spurs rallied in the final stages to salvage a point in a match that tested their character.
Danso, who is of Ghanaian descent, highlighted the team’s mental strength in overcoming the deficit.
"It was a very difficult match. We know from last season it's a difficult place to come, and I think they played really well, especially in the first half. But I think, once again, we showed good mentality to come back from 2-0 down," he said.
He added, "There's obviously loads of things we can do better, but I'm happy that we showed a good mentality today."
The Norwegian side looked in complete control after Jens Petter Hauge’s brace put them 2-0 up early in the second half. Hauge first curled a precise effort into the far corner before turning past Pedro Porro and striking again, sending the home fans into celebration.
Spurs had to respond, and they did so with urgency. Micky van de Ven powered in a header from Porro’s delivery, while Destiny Udogie’s header rattled the crossbar.
The equaliser arrived in the dying moments when Jostein Gundersen inadvertently turned a cross into his own net.
Tottenham’s escape was especially fortunate considering Kasper Høgh had earlier squandered a first-half penalty.
Spurs, who had defeated Bodo/Glimt home and away en route to Europa League glory last season, were second-best for large stretches but demonstrated the mental fortitude needed to avoid a damaging loss.
The draw leaves them with valuable points as they continue their Champions League campaign, with Danso emphasising the importance of staying focused and learning from the challenges faced in Trondheim.
