Black Starlets coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has opened up on what led to their uninspiring start in the ongoing 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championships.
Ghana opened their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Togo before losing to hosts Ivory Coast in their second group game.
In the final group game, the Black Starlets recorded a 3-1 win to book a place in the semifinals in the tournament.
After beating Nigeria to make it to the final, Narteh Ogum admitted that they lost their composure and structure in their first two games.
"We lost our structure against Togo and Ivory Coast, but we learnt from our mistakes, and our game against Niger was a make-or-break for us, and we were able to do the job," he told Asempa FM.
"The video analyst also pointed out where we needed to improve, and we did exactly that, and we were able to win and make it to the final," he added.
The win over Nigeria means the Black Starlets have qualified for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco next year.
However, Prosper Narteh Ogum and his charges will come up against Ivory Coast in the final of the U-17 WAFU B tournament on Friday.
