The Ministry of Youth and Sports has confirmed that a total budget of $1.12 million has been submitted for approval to cover the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against the Central African Republic and Comoros.
Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, Minister Kofi Adams disclosed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) submitted the estimates on September 18, which were subsequently forwarded to the Office of the President on September 19 for final approval.
The breakdown shows a cost of $733,000 for the away fixture against the Central African Republic on October 8 in Casablanca, and $387,000 for the home clash with Comoros on October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The estimates cover travel, accommodation, per diems, training facilities, officiating fees, match bonuses, and essential support services. The Minister stressed that all figures are in line with previously agreed fiscal benchmarks, noting that “there has been no deviation.”
He dismissed claims of political interference or delays, insisting that players’ entitlements remain untouched. “The players are our priority, and we have treated them with respect and professionalism,” he said.
The Minister praised the GFA’s cooperation and reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting the Black Stars while ensuring accountability and discipline in resource use.
Ghana will be seeking to strengthen their chances of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they take on the Central African Republic on October 8 before returning home to host Comoros on October 12. The Black Stars need four points from the two matches to secure qualification for the next stage of the tournament.
