The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has congratulated the University for Development Studies (UDS) for winning the World University Football Championship in China, describing the feat as a landmark achievement for Ghanaian football.
UDS impressed throughout the tournament and sealed the ultimate prize with a comeback win on Sunday against Brazil's University of Paulista. Earlier in the campaign, the GFA had extended its best wishes after the team reached the quarter-finals, urging them to aim for the title, a challenge the side met.

As part of its support, the GFA provided UDS with football kits and made the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram available for camping before the competition. With Schools and Colleges being members of the Association, football at the tertiary and grassroots level falls directly under the GFA’s football structure.
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, who also serves as CAF 2nd Vice President, lauded UDS’s triumph as evidence of the quality and potential within Ghanaian football. He added that the victory should inspire further investment in grassroots and tertiary football to nurture talent for the national teams.
