Bibiani GoldStars have shed light on the shock departure of head coach Frimpong Manso, revealing that the split stemmed from differences between the coach’s football philosophy and the club’s long-term business plan.
The decision, announced shortly after GoldStars’ 2-0 defeat to JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, sparked debate among fans who felt the timing was risky ahead of the second leg in Algeria.
Explaining the reasons, club Public Relations Officer Samuel Kwagyire disclosed that management deeply respected Manso’s contributions but believed his direction no longer aligned with the club’s ambitions.
“From management’s point of view, they felt Coach Frimpong Manso has paid his dues very well and they had to say goodbye to him. They analysed many things and after looking into the future, the business plan of the team doesn’t coincide with that of Frimpong Manso.
For that reason, management feels if the club is operating for a foreseeable future with a laid-down business plan and that of the coach doesn’t meet the team’s, then there is a contradiction. For that matter, the coach would have to go,” Kwagyire told Connect 97.1 FM.
In the interim, assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah will lead the squad as GoldStars attempt to overturn the two-goal deficit in Tizi Ouzou. Regardless of the immediate challenge, officials insist the decision reflects a broader push for sustainability and growth beyond short-term results.
