Bibiani GoldStars have clarified their decision to part ways with head coach Frimpong Manso, stressing that the move was influenced more by the club’s long-term vision than immediate results.
The former Ghana international was relieved of his duties just days after GoldStars’ 2-0 defeat to JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg tie at the Accra Sports Stadium. The announcement came as the club braces for a daunting return leg in Algeria on September 28, 2025.
Explaining the decision, GoldStars Public Relations Officer Samuel Kwagyire said management felt Manso’s philosophy no longer aligned with the club’s strategic plan for the future.
“From management’s point of view, they felt Coach Frimpong Manso has paid his dues very well and they had to say goodbye to him. They analysed many things and realised the business plan of the team doesn’t coincide with that of Frimpong Manso. For that matter, the coach would have to go so a different person whose plan fits into that of the club can be brought in,” Kwagyire told Connect 97.1 FM.
Assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah has been tasked with leading the team on an interim basis as GoldStars aim for a miracle turnaround against JS Kabylie. Despite the uphill battle, the club insists its focus remains on building a sustainable future, both on and off the pitch.
