Ghana international Kwasi Sibo has opened up about the challenges of playing in Spain's top flight while maintaining his ambition to eventually compete in the UEFA Champions League.
The Real Oviedo midfielder acknowledged the difficulty of La Liga but expressed satisfaction with his current situation.
"It's tough in La Liga, but I like it there because they treat me like a king," Sibo told Graphic Sports in a candid interview. The 26-year-old has become an important figure for Oviedo since helping them secure promotion last season.
Despite the challenges of Spain's top division, Sibo revealed his ultimate career objective remains playing in Europe's premier club competition. "We're working hard to stay up, but one of my biggest ambitions is to play in the UEFA Champions League," he stated.
The midfielder's confidence shines through as he navigates his first season in top-flight football. "Everything happens for a reason, and I believe I have the power to change situations," Sibo added, demonstrating the self-belief that has characterized his rapid rise.
Sibo recently made his Black Stars debut, starting alongside Thomas Partey in Ghana's 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory against Mali in June. His performance highlighted the growth he's experienced since Oviedo's promotion campaign.
While focused on helping his club maintain their La Liga status, Sibo's Champions League aspiration represents the next logical step for a player whose career has followed an upward trajectory from Spanish second division to international football within a year.
