
English-born Ghanaian midfielder Rafiq Lamptey has expressed excitement after inking a long-term deal at Championship side Millwall FC.
The 19-year-old signed a new deal at the Den on Wednesday after impressing the technical team of the first team following an outstanding run with the youth team.
Lamptey, the younger brother of Ghana international Tariq Lamptey, was promoted to the senior team this season after a successful pre-season. He is expected to enjoy minutes in the Championship as he continues his development at the club.
Following his new deal, Lamptey admitted the contract means he has been 'progressing nicely.'
"I'm buzzing. I am really really happy to sign this new contract. I think since I have been here, the aim has been to be progressing and to get better as a footballer and as a person, I think I have done that," he told Millwall TV.
"To get a new contract and to be offered it, it shows that I am doing well and I am progressing nicely. I am happy and I am pleased."
Lamptey is yet to make an appearances in the league this season ahead of the visit of his former club Watford.
