Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has appealed to Ghanaians to show up in large numbers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday to support his team in their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie against Algerian outfit JS Kabylie.
GoldStars, who won their maiden Ghana Premier League title last season, will host the first leg in Accra after their home ground, Dun’s Park, failed to meet CAF’s stadium standards.
The club has shifted its preparations to the capital to ensure a smooth build-up to the encounter.
Manso is convinced that strong local backing will be vital as the Ghanaian champions seek to establish a first-leg advantage.
“We are playing in Accra. It’s not our home ground, and so what we will appeal for is for all Ghanaians, those who can come to the stadium, to give us the support,” he told Joy Sports.
“They did it for the Black Stars against Mali, so we are very sure they will do the same thing for us, and I’m very sure if they also come in their numbers, we can also win â and win well.”
GoldStars face JS Kabylie on Saturday in a tie that will test their continental credentials early in the competition.
