Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has played down concerns about the venue for his side’s upcoming CAF Champions League tie with Algerian giants JS Kabylie, insisting it will have no impact on their performance.
The Ghana Premier League champions have relocated their preparations to Accra ahead of Sunday’s first-leg encounter.
GoldStars, who lifted the league title last season, are unable to host continental matches at their home ground, Dun’s Park, after it failed to meet CAF’s stadium requirements.
As a result, the Accra Sports Stadium has been selected to stage the fixture.
Speaking to Joy Sports, Manso stressed that his players are fully focused on delivering a strong performance regardless of where the match is held.
“Whether we are playing in Kumasi or playing in Accra, they are all neutral grounds. So if it will not affect us in Kumasi, I don’t think it will affect us in Accra,” he said.
Manso added that while the team would have preferred to play in Bibiani, they are prepared to adapt to any venue provided.
“So for me, the venue I don’t think it’s going to matter. If we had gotten it in Bibiani, that would have been the best. But if it doesn’t happen, be it Accra, Cape Coast, whatever, they are all the same,” he said.
GoldStars will be looking to establish an early advantage before travelling for the return leg in Algeria.
