Nigerien top-flight side Sahel SC have officially announced the signing of Ghanaian forward Stephen Diyou ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The 21-year-old attacker joins on a free transfer after parting ways with now-defunct Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC.
Diyou had been a free agent for several months but has now secured a new chapter in his career.
Diyou arrives as part of a recruitment drive led by newly appointed head coach Maurice Gueye, who is keen on reinforcing his squad before the new campaign kicks off.
Sahel are determined to improve on their 9th-place finish last season, and the Ghanaian forward is seen as a key piece in their attacking setup.
During his time with Nsoatreman, Diyou established himself as one of the club’s brightest talents.
He featured in 33 league matches in the 2023/24 season, scoring six goals and providing three assists.
His most memorable contribution came in the FA Cup, where he played a decisive role in helping Nsoatreman clinch their maiden title after defeating Bofoakwa Tano in the final.
Diyou now becomes one of the few Ghanaian players in the Nigerien league, and fans will be eager to see if he can replicate his Ghana Premier League form on foreign soil.
