CAF 2nd Vice-President and GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has commended CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe for his commitment to ensuring safety at football events across the continent.
Speaking at the opening of the CAF Safe Stadium Initiative workshop in Accra, Okraku highlighted Motsepe’s pledge to deliver football in secure and welcoming environments for all stakeholders.
"Since our President [Patrice Motsepe] took office, one of his foremost promises has been to deliver football in a very, very safe environment for all consumers of our sport," he said.
"It is always important for CAF, working closely with our Member Associations, to share knowledge that will help ensure lives and property are not only safe but protected at all CAF-organised events."
The three-day workshop has brought together safety and security officers from Premier League clubs, regional sports police officers, and GFA officials to strengthen stadium safety standards.
Simeon-Okraku’s remarks underscore CAF’s broader push to make African football venues safer, following past tragedies on the continent, and to build greater confidence among fans attending matches.
