Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has issued a stern warning to match officials, emphasizing there will be no tolerance for unprofessional conduct in the upcoming Premier League season.
The strong message was delivered during a virtual meeting with referees just days before the league's kickoff on September 12.
Okraku stated unequivocally that any official engaging in unethical practices would face full consequences, declaring: "Let me be clear and without any form of ambiguity.
I will not stand in the way of justice if any of you engage in unprofessional or unethical conduct." He emphasized that integrity remains non-negotiable for protecting the progress made in Ghanaian football.
The meeting, attended by top GFA officials including Referees Committee Chairperson Christine Enyonam Zigah and Referees Manager Alex Kotey, also highlighted the improved welfare packages implemented for officials across all divisions.
Okraku noted that with better working conditions now in place, referees are expected to demonstrate unwavering professionalism and be "beyond reproach."
The GFA president expressed his expectation that these measures would contribute to "the best Premier League season ever," free from unnecessary controversies.
His comments come at a crucial time as Hearts of Oak prepare to face debutants Hohoe United in the season opener, with all stakeholders watching closely how officials manage the pressure and responsibility of their crucial roles.
