The Black Stars have pledged to rectify their shortcomings from Thursday’s disappointing draw against Chad when they face Mali in Monday’s critical 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier at Accra Sports Stadium.
The team’s renewed determination comes after an encouraging visit from Sports Minister Hon. Kofi Adams to the team’s training camp on Saturday.
During the morale-boosting session, Minister Adams reminded the squad of their exceptional capabilities and the hopes of an entire nation resting on their shoulders.
“I know what you’re capable of,” Minister Adams told the assembled players and technical staff. “There’s no better team than you. You have the talent, the passion, and the opportunity to turn this around.”
Head coach Otto Addo emphasised the team’s unwavering focus on World Cup qualification, noting the advantage of returning to the natural grass surface of Accra Sports Stadium. The technical staff has been working intensively to address the tactical issues that led to the underwhelming performance against Chad.
A senior team member captured the squad’s mindset, stating: “We know what went wrong, and we are determined to correct it. The win is coming.”
The Ministry of Sports reaffirmed its commitment to providing the national team with all necessary resources and support during this crucial qualifying campaign.
With Ghana’s World Cup hopes hanging in the balance, Monday’s match against Mali represents a pivotal moment for the Black Stars to demonstrate their quality and redeem themselves in front of their home supporters.
