AC Milan have put a temporary stop to Yunus Musah’s departure after midfielder Ardon Jashari suffered a serious fibula injury, just as Atalanta were preparing to complete a â¬25 million move for the player.
The American midfielder, who has Ghanaian heritage despite representing the United States internationally, had been strongly linked with a switch to Bergamo.
Atalanta were ready to commit â¬25 million to secure his services, but the situation has shifted following Jashari’s setback, leaving uncertainty over Milan’s willingness to part ways.
Musah joined Milan from Valencia in 2023 and quickly established himself as a versatile option in midfield.
However, Max Allegri’s side are now weighing whether his departure would leave them short in key areas.
“It will be difficult to let him go now,” a Milan source admitted, with the club keen to reassess its squad depth before making a final decision.
Atalanta, meanwhile, have not wasted time exploring alternatives. The Bergamo club have reopened talks with Genoa for Denmark international Morten Frendrup, whose valuation is in the same region as Musah’s.
La Dea are carefully considering both options while awaiting Milan’s definitive stance.
The coming days will be decisive in determining whether Milan retain Musah or sanction his transfer, with Atalanta ready to act swiftly if given the green light.
