Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani Gold Stars, John Akwasi Adu, has thrown his support behind the Ghana Football Association’s proposal to extend the presidential term limit from two to three terms.
The move follows the GFA’s confirmation last week that it had received approval from FIFA to amend its statutes to align with prevailing practices at both FIFA and CAF.
If adopted, the amendment would potentially allow current GFA President Kurt Okraku, who is in his second term, to seek a third term in office, extending his stay beyond the existing eight-year cap.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Kwasi Adu described the proposal as progressive rather than restrictive.
“The proposal to extend the term limit of the GFA president to three is a step in the right direction, not an imposition,” he said.
The proposal will be tabled before delegates during the GFA Congress scheduled for August 12, 2025, where members will vote on whether to adopt the change.
