Fatawu Issahaku says he is delighted to be back playing pain-free and scoring for Leicester City again following a long spell on the sidelines with injury.
The Ghana international was on target with a brilliant solo effort in Leicester’s pre-season win over Fiorentina at the King Power Stadium, his first game back in front of the Foxes’ home fans since undergoing surgery on an ACL injury.
“Right now I'm feeling good. I've got more minutes and I still feel good and no pain in my knee,” he said afterwards. “The goal was something I was waiting for because I’ve been out for so long, and I'm so happy that I came back to King Power with a goal. My comeback is personal because I've been through a lot.”
Issahaku admits he missed the atmosphere at Leicester’s home ground and is now focused on the start of the new Premier League season next weekend.
“I miss playing at King Power and I miss the fans. It feels good coming back again. We can go more aggressive and more energetic,” he added. “I’m just feeling better and better - can’t wait for next weekend.”
