"They have everything to perform"- Black Queens legend Adjoa Bayor on current Ghana team
Former Ghana women's national team captain, Adjoa Bayor believes the current Black Queens team have all they need to perform at the ongoing Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.Ghana had a slow start to the tournament after losing their opening game against holders South Africa on Monday. The team will engage West African rivals Mali on Friday with hopes of bouncing back from defeat.Bayor, a pioneer of women's football in Ghana and Africa, backed the Black Queens to excel in Morocco, claiming the game has improved in recent years.We opened the way for them. We crawled so that they can run. They have everything that they need to perform at this level. The WAFCON has grown in leaps and bounds from what it was in 1998 on and off the pitch. It has been incredible to experience the growth, she told CAFOnline.There is a big difference from an organization point of view as well as financially speaking. The prize money is now up to $1m. That is massive from CAF, Bayor added.The Black Queens made a return to the tournament after a seven-year absence. Ghana will face Tanzania in their final group game on July 14, 2025.
