Kurt Okraku highlights Ghanaâ??s strategic role after CAF Executive Committee election
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has underscored the countrys growing influence in African football governance following his successful election to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee.Okraku, who was elected unopposed for a four-year term from 2025 to 2029, sees his new role as an opportunity to advance Ghanas interests and contribute to the development of football across the continent.I think Ghana occupies a strategic space at the highest level of governance on the African continent, Okraku said. Its a position that will undoubtedly aid the development of football. At the very least, we have a voiceand that voice is very loud.The GFA President also expressed gratitude to former GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi for his support following his election.I'm very grateful to Kwesi Nyantakyi for his support, for his message two days ago, and it only tells me that I have big shoes to fill, Okraku said in an interview with Sporty FM. Its my singular commitment to work my way in that perspective and ensure that I serve Africa and Ghana to the best of my ability.Okrakus leadership at the GFA since 2019 has focused on transparency, grassroots football, women's football, and youth development. His election to the CAF Executive Committee is seen as a recognition of his efforts in revitalizing Ghanaian football.Okraku becomes the sixth Ghanaian to serve on the CAF Executive Committee, following in the footsteps of Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere, and Kwesi Nyantakyi.
