2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: Ghana retain regular goalkeepers for Chad and Madagascar games
Ghana is heading into the March international break with regular goalkeepers Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Wollacott.The Black Stars are returning to action for the first time this year after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament last year.With pressure on head coach Otto Addo, he aims for positive results in the next two qualification games for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.On Friday, February 14, the coach named a 23-man squad for the upcoming games against Chad and Madagascar.Coach Otto Addo retained regular goalkeepers Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Wollacott in his squad while handing a debut call-up to in-form Hearts of Oak shot-stapper Benjamin Asare.The three goalkeepers will compete in training and hope to be selected by the coach to man the post for the Black Stars during the two games.The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Chad and Madagascar are scheduled to be played on March 21 and March 24, respectively.
