Kurt Okrakuâ??s presence at CAF Executive Committee positive for Ghana football â?? Frederick Acheampong

Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Frederick Acheampong, believes Kurt Okrakus inclusion in the Confederation of African Footballs (CAF) Executive Committee will be beneficial for Ghana football.

Okraku, who currently serves as GFA President, secured a position on CAFs Executive Council during the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly held in Cairo on Wednesday, March 12. His appointment makes him the sixth Ghanaian to be part of CAFs top decision-making body.

Speaking ahead of the congress, Acheampong emphasized that Okraku faced no opposition for the role and expressed confidence in the positive impact of his presence at CAF.

There was no competition against him. Burkina Fasos new football federation president did not submit his nomination for the West Zone B slot. Even if he had, our president (Kurt Okraku) would have won, Acheampong told MAX FM.

With his election, he will now be part of CAFs Executive Committee, which is a great advantage for Ghana football. He will have a say in key decisions that shape the future of the sport on the continent, he added.

In addition to his new role at CAF, Kurt Okraku also serves as the President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
