Hasaacas Ladies CEO urges CAF to expand squad size for women's competitions
Chief Executive Officer of Hasaacas Ladies, Evelyn Nsiah Asare, has called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to increase the squad size for womens teams for in international competitions.The SWAG vice president wants the current limit of 28 players raised to 35.Her appeal comes after CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe was re-elected unopposed at the 14th CAF Extraordinary General Assembly in Cairo on Wednesday.With his renewed mandate, Dr. Motsepe has pledged to improve womens football by expanding grassroots programs and increasing opportunities for female players.Speaking to Channel One Sports, Evelyn Nsiah Asare stressed that increasing the squad size would help clubs manage fatigue and injuries during major tournaments.She argued that teams often take extra players to tournaments due to the risk of injuries and believes CAF can afford to accommodate the request.If you are going to a competition and they ask you to bring only seven technical staff, and thats what they are going to sponsor, and 21 players.I want to plead to CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, I salute you again because you are doing very well. Please, if you can make it 35, it will help us.You just make it 35 for us so that management gets three or four slots, and then the players and technical staff increase slightly to 35. I dont think it will take much money from CAF.You go to WAFU, they have given you 21 players, but you have gone there with 25 players because its a tournament, and injuries can set in. And then technical sevenwhat are we talking about?
