CAF holds draw for 2025 U-17 AFCON in Morocco
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has conducted the official draw for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.The event took place on Thursday, February 13, at CAF Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.Former Mali international Adama Coulibaly and ex-Senegalese forward Souleymane Camara oversaw the draw, setting the stage for a highly anticipated tournament featuring 16 teams from March 30 to April 19, 2025, in Morocco.Host nation Morocco will compete in Group A alongside Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia. Group B features Burkina Faso, UNIFFAC 1 (the winner of the UNIFFAC Qualifiers), South Africa, and Egypt.Defending champions Senegal, drawn in Group C, will face 2009 winners Gambia, Somalia, and Tunisia. Group D consists of Mali, tournament debutants Angola, 2013 champions Cte dIvoire, and UNIFFAC 2 (runners-up from the UNIFFAC Qualifiers).Beyond the continental title, the tournament also serves as a qualifier for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025, with Africa set to be represented by 10 teams.
