Kudjoe Fianoo criticizes GFA's bus procurement for Division One clubs
Former GHALCA chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has expressed disappointment over the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) recent bus acquisitions for Division One League clubs. He was reacting to a report by the Crusading Guide alleging that the GFA falsified documents on nine overage buses to avoid penalties. According to the report, the buses purchased are 2009 models, and to evade taxes, the GFA allegedly altered the manufacturing dates to 2014.I have seen some of the buses; the person who bought them has let the clubs down. If GFA money was used to buy them, he has wasted GFA money; if FIFA money was used, he didn't help FIFA to use the money properly. I don't know if Okwawu has pulled theirs out of the stadium; as a follow-up, go to the stadium in front of GHALCA, the bus is there. The last time I went to the GHALCA office for the elections, it is parked there. I asked the CEO of Okwawu United why a bus given to the club is still at the stadium. He said he was going to brand the bus, and he doesn't know how long it will take to do it; if you go to the stadium, the bus is there, he told Peace FM, as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com.In November 2024, the GFA handed over buses to nine Division One League clubs as part of its Bus Acquisition Strategy. The beneficiary clubs included Young Apostles FC, Techiman Heroes FC, Victory Club Warriors, Basake Holy Stars, New Edubiase FC, Mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs, Vision FC, Okwawu United, and Hohoe United. However, concerns were raised about the condition of these buses. The GFA's Communications Director, Henry Asante-Twum, clarified that the clubs were informed that the buses were not brand new. Clubs were aware the buses were not brand new. I think the problem was with the condition, he stated. He acknowledged that it was unfortunate some clubs received buses not in good condition, emphasizing that it was never the GFA's intention to provide buses that would cause problems for the clubs instead of assisting them.
