GFA to hold by-election to replace Gifty Oware-Mensah â?? Reports
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to hold a by-election to replace Executive Council member Gifty Oware-Mensah, who has reportedly left the country.According to reports, Oware-Mensah, who also served as Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the Akufo-Addo government, has been absent from recent Executive Council meetings, prompting the need for a replacement. Her absence is reportedly linked to allegations involving the NSS ghost names scandal, where over 80,000 fraudulent names were allegedly added to the schemes personnel list.Reports suggest that these allegations, along with the New Patriotic Partys loss in the 2024 elections, contributed to her departure.Oware-Mensah was elected to the GFA Executive Council on October 5, securing strong backing from Womens Premier League clubs. She is also the owner of Berry Ladies FC and serves as the Chairperson of the Black Queens' Management Committee.
