Harry Zakour blames poor security for Nsoatreman FC, Asante Kotoko violence

[caption id=attachment_1223094 align=alignnone width=640] Harry Zakour[/caption]Former Hearts of Oak chairman Harry Zakour has blamed security personnel over the skillingof Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Frimpong.Nana Pooley as popularly knownwas tragically murdered by unknown men during the Matchday 19 game between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at the Nana Kronmansah Park in Nsoatre.The unfortunate incident led to the suspension of theMatchday 20 game of theGhana Premier League by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).Reacting to the incident, Zakour blamed the poor security arrangements which led to the killing of young football enthusiasts.I blame the security for the violence in Nsoatre. What I saw was that the security couldn't control what happened.It is about time we sit up and do what is needful.He further cautioned that the Ghana Police Service must handle the issue well to serve as a warning to others.The Ghana Police Serviceshould sit up and bring out the person who killed Nana Pooley and will urge the Police tohandle this issue well, so it will be a lesson to everyone.Asante Kotoko has however insisted that they will not compete in any football action until full justice is served.Meanwhile, seven arrests have been made, including Nsoatreman FC bankroller Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, following Pooleys death. The former Employment and Labour Relations Minister has been placed under a movement restriction order by District Court B in Sunyani.Meanwhile, the GFA has approved newly enhanced matchday safety and security protocols for various football competitions to curb hooliganism.The measures include appointing Club Safety and Security Officers and installing CCTV cameras at match venues. Clubs that fail to comply or cooperate with the protocols will face sanctions, including a GH20,000 fine and a venue ban. Read Full Story
