GFA Security Committee member confirms Kotoko fan Nana Pooley was stabbed outside stadium
A member of the Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Safety and Security Committee, Saint Osei, has confirmed that some Asante Kotoko officials attested to the fact that Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley, was stabbed outside the stadium at the Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre.According to Osei, witnesses from Kotoko, along with other individuals interrogated by the committee, stated that Pooley was indeed stabbed outside the stadium. He named Aduku, Akuriga, David Kwadwo Sakapa, and Baba Iddi as some of the Kotoko representatives who corroborated this claim.Speaking to Sporty FM, Osei clarified that Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkors statement regarding the location of the stabbing was accurate.Witnesses from Kotoko, including Aduku, Akuriga, David Kwadwo Sakapa, Baba Iddi, and others, can attest that Madam [DCOP Donkor] did not speak out of a vacuum, he said.He also distinguished between the Ghana Police Services criminal investigation and the GFAs inquiry, which focuses on security arrangements and preventing such incidents in the future. This follows backlash from some Kotoko fans and sections of the public who accused DCOP Donkor of making the claim to absolve the police of any responsibility.Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested individuals suspected to be involved in the violent incident that led to Pooleys death during Kotokos match against Nsoatreman.
