GFA's borehole at Sunyani Coronation Park shallow and full of clay - Bono Regional NSA
The boreholes provided by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at Sunyani Coronation Park have come under scrutiny, as one year after their commissioning, they are deemed ineffective for their intended purpose. The Bono Regional Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Foster Boakye, revealed that one of the boreholes is too shallow, producing clay-filled water that is unusable for maintaining the pitch. The water system was part of the GFAs Borehole Project under the FIFA Forward 1.0 program, aimed at improving sports facilities across the country. The initiative, which included three boreholes in the Bono Regiontwo at Coronation Park and one at Sunyani Technical Universitywas designed to enhance the quality of pitches and competitions. However, Boakye stated that the project has failed to meet its objectives at the Coronation Park. They gave us two boreholes, but unfortunately one of the boreholes was too shallow, he said, as quoted by MyJoyOnline.Right now, they have connected the new dressing room to that borehole and that is what the players use to shower anytime they play matches. Before God and man, anytime we pump water it's more or less clay that comes out. How can we use such clay water to water the park, he quizzed. Thats why we channelled that borehole to the dressing room.Boakye also criticized the GFAs response to the issue, stating that when he approached a member of the Executive Council for assistance, he was told the NSA should bear the cost of resolving the problem.I even spoke to one of the FA Exco members and pleaded with him that if it could be possible, they could even let the person come and do the drilling again so that the dirt or clay we see in the water will go down.I spoke to him and he said as for that one the NSA should take care of the cost. But my question is where is the NSA going to get the money from to do all those things? he quizzed.
