Asante Kotoko fan's death blot on Nsoatre township - Former GHALCA chair Joseph Yaw Appiah
Former Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Joseph Yaw Appiah, has strongly criticized the violent incident in Nsoatre that resulted in the death of a football fan during a Ghana Premier League match.Appiah described the event as a tragic and disgraceful moment for the town.The incident occurred on February 2, 2025, during the league fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.The victim Francis Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, was fatally stabbed, sparking outrage and widespread condemnation.Speaking to Joy Sports, Appiah expressed his sadness over the situation, saying it is a blot on the Nsoatre township.This is very bad. Whatever the situation was, we should have been a little patient because this is football. It's rather unfortunate, he said.This is a big blot to the Nsoatre town, me and then Nsoatreman. I wish we don't mention it. It's very painful, very sad, disgraceful and very unfortunate. It was unwarranted and shouldn't have happened at all.In response to the tragedy, the Ghana Police Service has arrested seven individuals as part of their investigation.
