GFA marketing director explains reasons behind lack of sponsors
The Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Marketing Director, Jamil Maraby, has revealed that negative incidents surrounding the Ghana Premier League have made it challenging to attract sponsorship for the competition.Maraby acknowledged that the recent tragic stabbing of a fan during a match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko has created a negative perception, making marketing efforts more difficult. The incident led to the temporary suspension of the league, further complicating efforts to secure financial backing.We're not approaching any new partners at the moment, Maraby said in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports. We're still in discussion with potential partners we were talking to before, but it's difficult. However, there's still potential and possibility for us to get partners to support our league again.The GFA has held meetings with stakeholders, including the Ghana Police Service, to address the recent incident and find ways to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
