Kotoko chief confronts GFA: "We will force you to respect us"
The Chairman of Asante Kotokos Interim Management Committee (IMC), Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, strongly criticised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) during a meeting between the club and the countrys football governing body.Addressing the GFA delegation, led by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, Nana Apinkrah expressed disappointment over what he described as a lack of respect for Kotoko, emphasizing that the club will demand recognition moving forward. It would have been nice if GHALCA had come here for this meeting earlier before the IGP even did. For the GFA, we know they don't value us, but we will force you to respect us whether you like it or not. We will show you we are Kotoko and Hearts, he stated. His comments reflect Kotokos frustration with the GFAs response following the tragic murder of a supporter, Francis Nana Pooley Frimpong, who was fatally stabbed during a league match between Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.On Monday, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak jointly submitted a proposal to the GFA, outlining key reforms, including improved security measures, automatic slots on the GFA Executive Council, and a review of the current broadcast revenue distribution.During the meeting, Nana Apinkrah reiterated that Kotoko would only resume playing in the league if their demands are met.We can't say we won't play the league again. We will play, but only if the security measures are put in place. We will make sure we go all lengths to ensure this, he said.Meanwhile, the case against four suspects charged in connection with the murder of Nana Pooley has been withdrawn from the Fiapre Circuit Court and will be refiled at the Sunyani District Court. The suspects - Isaac Fosu, Yeboah Augustine, Elizabeth Akosua Ntiwa (Akosua Black Chinese), and Yaa Asantewaa - were charged with abetment of crime to wit; murder, under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offences Act of 1960 (Act 29).Two other suspects, Briamah (Rasta) and Yaw Koshy, remain at large and face the same charges, with Briamah facing an additional charge of murder under Section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act.
