Asante Kotoko IMC chairman slams GFA 'for not caring about' fanâ??s death
Nana Apinkrah, Chairman of Asante Kotokos Interim Management Committee, has criticized the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for its response to the fatal stabbing of club supporter Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley. The incident occurred during Kotokos Week 19 Ghana Premier League match against Nsoatreman FC at Nana Koromansah II Park, which has since been banned indefinitely.Apinkra accused the association of failing to thoroughly investigate the incident, including allegations that Nsoatreman FCs Ignatius Baffour Awuah incited fans against Kotoko. He expressed dissatisfaction with the GFAs actions, stating, You [GFA] are only issuing fines, to the extent you are fining people who were not even involved. It's as if you don't care, Apinkrah told the Ghana FA in a meeting. We are angry because it's painful. It's very painful.I was expecting that by this time the GFA would have probed into the whole situation including Ignatius Baffour Awuah who incited the fans against us.The tragedy prompted the suspension of the league, with the GFA convening an emergency meeting with all 18 Premier League clubs to discuss measures to prevent future violence. The suspension has left the league in limbo, with fans and clubs awaiting decisive action to restore confidence in Ghanaian football.
